Welcome to the September 2017 issue of Ektara, the online video magazine of history, arts and culture of India and South Asia. We hope our stories and interviews will entertain and inspire you, and arouse your appetite for more about our rich and diverse pasts. Ektara magazine comes out once every two months.

1. Conference on the Popular Culture of Urdu Language (8-10 Sept. 2017)

3. Featured video: D. Raghunandan on Science and Anti-Science
D. Raghunandan, President, All India Peoples Science Network, discusses the fantastic claims made at the 102nd Indian Science Congress in Pune by Hindutva votaries regarding science in ancient India. Indian contributions to science are well known and Indians do not need fake claims or imaginary expertise to feel proud. Myths and legends cannot be taken as proof, and knowledge in complex subjects like aviation would surely also have left other evidence. 4. Announcement: 'Say No to Hatred' events in India
A protest initiated in June 2017 by the #NotInMyName campaign spread to 26 cities and towns across India. Thousands of Indians stood up to say NO to hatred and violence in the name of religion and caste. We observe 10 September 2017 as a day to categorically #SayNoToHatred! #NafratKeKhilafDilliKiAwaaz.
